THE ROAD PROGRAMME

The Refugee Opportunity and Development Programme (ROAD), one of Branches of Hope’s initiatives, currently serves over 600 refugees, mainly from Africa, Middle East and South Asia living in Hong Kong. The goal of ROAD is to help equip, educate, and empower individuals and families to become positive and contributing members of society.

THE ROAD DIFFERENCE

ROAD helps refugees regain their dignity and move them towards self-sufficiency using three major approaches:

INTEGRATE refugees into local society and promote Hong Kong as an inclusive and harmonious city

RESETTLE refugees to a new country, or preparing alternative arrangements.

REPATRIATE refugees when advisable.

Keeping Kids in Kindergarten (K3) Sponsorship Programme

Early childhood education is critical as it directly impacts a child’s cognitive and social development, which sets the foundation for realising his or her full potential as an adult. The K3 Sponsorship Programme enables children of refugees to attend kindergarten through matching children in need with sponsors.

HOW TO SUPPORT ROAD

1. Send a child to school.

Join the K3 Programme by committing HK$800 a month to cover basic costs of attending kindergarten such as transportation, books, stationery, and school uniforms. To pledge, visit the K3 campaign page.

2. Become a Secret Angel.

Make a conscious effort to reduce your own spending, using the money to anonymously benefit a member or family of the refugee community by supporting their families and livelihood.

3. Volunteer.

Give your time, talent, and heart to our refugee community by serving as a volunteer.

4. Befriend a refugee or family

The best way to understand a refugee is to be a friend. Get to know them through our community befriending project. Connect with a refugee or family to learn more about this community
