Nana sat alone in the waiting room, the only one still there after everyone else had left. It had been hours since noon, when she first arrived for her visa application. The approval process felt slow, strange, and wrong. Then, out of nowhere, police appeared and arrested her. The officers claimed her employer had reported that she had stolen HKD 14,000.
Nana was confused and terrified. She was on her period, overwhelmed by fear, and unable to fully understand what was happening because of the language barrier. Although the police found no evidence and released her the next day, the long process, with statements taken in English, Nepali, and another language, was exhausting and left her shaken.
The harassment from her employer did not end after her release. Before the arrest, the Nepali employer had doxxed her on Facebook, posting her photo, private details and accusing her of stealing the employer’s belongings. Nana tried to explain herself in the comments, pleading with the employer to remove the post, but it made no difference. In their Nepali community, her reputation was ruined. Her future employment prospects in Hong Kong felt impossible.
Nana had already fled her employer’s house earlier, unable to endure the relentless work pressure and verbal abuse. With STOP’s help, she managed to survive that difficult period, and she decided to fight back. She filed a complaint to the Labour Relations Department, reporting underpayment, lack of food, and being forced to work during holidays. The claims were serious, and the employer eventually paid her the owed money.
After everything she endured, the arrest, the false accusations, the doxxing, the humiliation, and the exhaustion, Nana finally returned home. Her story is not just hers. It echoes the nightmares faced by many Nepali migrant domestic workers in Hong Kong, trapped in a system where power is uneven, dignity is fragile, and survival often depends on the strength to fight back.

被釋放後,來自僱主的騷擾並沒有停止。她的尼泊爾僱主在 Facebook 起底她,發布她的相片和私隱資料,指控她偷竊。Nana 在留言中試圖解釋並懇求對方刪帖,但完全無效,在尼泊爾社群內她的名聲已受損,日後在香港再找工變得極為困難。
其實在此之前,Nana 已離開僱主家,無法再忍受過度的工作壓力和言語虐待。多虧 STOP 的協助,她度過這段艱難日子,並決定反擊。她向勞資關係處投訴,指控僱主拖欠工資、供餐不足及在假日逼她工作。這些指控很嚴重,僱主最終付清了所欠的款項。
經歷被捕、被誣告、被起底、被羞辱和身心俱疲之後,Nana 終於返到家。她的故事不只是她一個人的遭遇,這同樣反映出許多在港的尼泊爾外傭面對的噩夢——權力不對等、尊嚴脆弱,生存往往要靠勇氣去抗爭。
